Mr. Safa has been to 10+ Regional Tournaments and 3 World Tournaments. Mr. Safa's favorite part of karate is having fun and trying new/different things that he wouldn't do in normal everyday life. Integrity is the tenet that Mr. Safa connects to the most because he enjoys being honest and has goals in life that give him a sense of good morals.

Mr. Beres began his Martial Arts training in April 2003. He went through every rank test Gup and Dan alongside his wife, Krisl, who is also a Certified Instructor at JC Karate. He considers himself very fortunate his entire family including their sons, Andrew and Matthew, both Dan members, are active members of their Do Jang.

Mrs. Beres first day at karate began with her husband by her side. She has participated in and helped coach most of the JC Karate Demo teams. It truly has been rewarding to be a part of program. She serves JC Karate each summer as the "pig" in the pig pen on the last day of camp each year! Mrs. Beres says "At my last high school reunion, my being a black belt made it to the top of the "Whoever saw that coming?" list. This goes to show that ANYONE can do this if you put your mind to it.

Mrs. Shanok has attended 3 world tournaments with the first tournament as a green belt. Mrs. Shanok's favorite part of karate is that it is her place to go where she can focus on herself. She can make the outside word go away and just focus on one thing, training.  Mrs. Shanok connects to the code Honor Friendship and the tenet Integrity.

Ms. Morenz (aka Ms. Lily) has been doing karate for about 8 years. She started attending tournaments as a white belt at the 15th Fall Classic. She enjoys competing and has been competing and has been to many region 8 and region 9 tournaments. She has also participated in 2 world tournaments. Her favorite part of karate is teaching the students of all ranks. She connects most to the code "honor friendship" as she values those people around her highly.

Mr. Offerdahl began his marital arts training in 2000, following a passion that he had since he was teenager and unable to train. Mr. Offerdahl feels that karate is a passion and a way of life for him. He feels it is a great way to relieve stress, exercise and develop a greater sense of life and compassion for those at home, work and community. He says, “Karate not only builds our bodies, it builds our minds as wells, regardless of what age you begin you training.”

Ms. McKinely had recently seen Around the World in 80 Days and decided she wanted to be Jackie Chan when she grew up. She was the first person in her family to start karate classes, and would eventually inspire her sister and father to join her. In February 2010, Ms. McKinley successfully tested for and obtained her 1st Dan, and is currently training towards her 2nd Dan. Ms. McKinley plans on achieving her 2nd Dan and to keep working on her technique and confidence with her black belt family.

1st Place Creavity, 2012 - Region 9 Team Member

Ms. Morenz (aka Ms. Mel) started karate with a week of summer camp when she was twelve and fell in love with World Tang Soo Do.  She passed her first degree black belt test on the fall of 2012 and began teaching classes the following summer.  Ms. Morenz has been to two world championships, several regional tournaments, and was a member of the demo/creativity team.  She loves training at JC Karate because everyone treats each other like family.  She knows that at JC we work hard and play hard.  Ms. Morenz currently attends the University of Connecticut in Storrs, but is always willing to help out her dojang, master, and karate family whenever she is home.
